Sharon Fellner is a medical technologist at Baton Rouge General Hospital. She earned her bachelor’s in Biology from Louisiana State University in 2007. Sharon pursued a Masters in Human Genetics from Tulane University in 2011. She then earned her Doctorate in Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2018.
Sharon decided to pursue laboratory science instead of a medical residency. In June 2019, she worked as a clinical documentation improvement specialist at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA. She also earned her Certified Coding Associate certification from AHIMA in December 2019.
Sharon’s passion for teaching led her to work as an instructor at Delgado Community College. From August 2011 to May 2012, she taught anatomy and physiology lectures and lab classes, microbiology lectures, biology for non-science majors lecture classes, and biology for science majors lab classes. She returned to Delgado Community College in January 2018 and taught anatomy and physiology until May.
With a distinguished reputation within the medical community, Sharon currently serves as a highly skilled medical technologist at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Leveraging her broad expertise in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology, she analyzes laboratory samples, which is critical in patient diagnosis and treatment. Widely recognized for her dedication and drive to refine her skills continuously, Sharon is a valuable asset to the hospital and the broader medical field.
